Medical Weight Loss
Weight loss seems simple: eat well, hydrate, get your steps in, maybe strength train or hit a fitness class a few times a week, sleep — and yet, somehow, we still find ourselves scouring the internet for answers. Our search histories start telling the story of our deepest insecurities: "how to lose belly fat," "visceral fat," "burn belly fat fast," "belly fat exercises."
Beyond the medical weight loss treatments we offer, our team at Idaho Primary Care and Wellness works with you on a plan tailored specifically to you, so you're more likely to achieve success in a safe, healthy, and sustainable way. Our approach may include the following.
Mounjaro & Ozempic®
Mounjaro is an injectable prescription medicine used alongside diet and exercise to help patients lose weight. It's designed to decrease food intake and increase energy expenditure, resulting in easier weight loss, and it can help regulate your metabolism — useful if you struggle with yo-yo dieting or a weight that won't stay put.
Mounjaro works by helping your body release insulin when blood sugar is high, clearing excess sugar from the blood, slowing the liver's sugar production, reducing how much food is eaten, and slowing how quickly food leaves the stomach. Combined with exercise and a healthy diet, that can get your weight loss back on track.
Ozempic® (semaglutide) works by mimicking the GLP-1 receptors in the body to lower appetite and blood sugar levels. It's meant for overweight patients, generally with a BMI greater than 27.5. Four large studies show it's highly effective for weight loss in people who are overweight — one published in the New England Journal of Medicine found semaglutide led to an average loss of about 15% of body weight in a year, roughly 33.7 lbs on average.

Getting to the Root Cause
In addition to the injectables above, we work with you on a plan tailored specifically to you — often starting with a couple of key diagnostics.
Food Sensitivity Testing
Inflammation from food can drive weight gain, so we start with an IgG food sensitivity panel to identify intolerances that may be working against you. Once we know what to eliminate — typically for one to three months — we'll build a diet and protocol to heal the inflammation and the weight gain that comes with it.
Hormones
Hormone imbalances disrupt the body in ways that go well beyond the scale — weight gain, low libido, insomnia, brain fog, and more if left untreated. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) naturally restores and balances hormones and can be a powerful ally on your weight loss journey, whatever's driving the imbalance.
